How to Win the Day

Mmmmm your bed. Such a sacred place. No one can hurt you in your bed. It’s your space and your space only. That’s until your girlfriend stays over. Then it’s very much her bed. Thank you girlfriend. Thank you very much for taking away my only sacred space.
Anyway, your bed. Your bed relates to your life in so many ways. It’s where you recharge, and energise for the next day. It can show off creativity; if you’re the type of person who has 4 pillows, 2 throw pillows, another pillow and one final pillow. That’s a lot of pillows.
It shows discipline; being able to wake up and fight that first piece of resistance in the day (well, second. First one is waking up) and gives you an opportunity to complete your first task of the day. You complete your first task for the day, guess what. You will complete many more tasks. You prime your mind for achieving, for overcoming, and for taking pride in your work. Yep, you get all of that just by making your bed.
Think of making your bed as stretching. You wouldn’t go straight into a fight without properly warming up, would you? So why begin the day differently?
The fight of the day is made up of many battles. You win as many battles as you can, until the fight is over. And what is your prize when the fight is over? You get to come home to a nice, clean, inviting bed. Ready for you to recharge, and energise yourself for tomorrow’s fight. And then it becomes one endless loop of waking up, making your bed, fighting your battles, and going to sleep in a nice, cosy bed.
Ah life, isn’t it great.
"If you make your bed every morning, you will have accomplished the first task of the day. It will give you a small sense of pride, and it will encourage you to do another task, and another, and another. And by the end of the day that one task completed will have turned into many tasks completed." William H. Mcraven - Author of Make Your Bed
